KRA impounds unregistered vehicles worth Ksh.30M

The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) has impounded 21 unregistered vehicles valued at Ksh.30 million found in Mombasa county.

19 out of the 21 vehicles bearing number plates from Tanzania and Uganda were impounded in Mombasa town while the other two were found around Lunga Lunga area.

Speaking to Citizen Digital, KRA Southern Region Deputy Commissioner Nicholas Kinoti said the vehicles did not have the required documentation for them to be in the country.

Kinoti now says that the vehicles will be destroyed should the owners fail to bring the proper documentation and pay the required tax for processing.

The KRA official further added that several other crushed vehicles are still lying at the port of Mombasa for failing to meet the required standards in the country, including those imported exceeding the set 8 year limit from the date of manufacture.
