KRA probing Governor Joho’s accounts over tax liability
Diamond Trust Bank is under pressure from the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) to release details related to a bank account held by Mombasa County Governor, Ali Hassan Joho.
The revenue authority wants the bank to furnish the commissioner of taxes with information regarding the governor’s tax liability in accordance with the Kenya Revenue Tax Procedure Act, 2015.
The investigations and enforcement arm of the revenue authority is now demanding bank statements and other crucial documents relating to the account since 2011.
Joho has termed the move as part of a wider scheme by the Jubilee government to intimidate him.
Speaking on Sunday, March 18, at a political rally in Tana River County, Joho said he will not relent from pointing out where Jubilee goes wrong.
