KRA seizes containers with fake goods worth Ksh.50M

The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) has seized three containers loaded with counterfeit and concealed power cables whose value is pegged at Ksh.50million.

The three containers imported from China were impounded in three CFs Console base, Auto port and Portside in Mombasa County.

According to KRA coast regional coordinator Mr Nicholas Kinoti the consignment was impounded between 21st and 31st of May 2018.

Kinoti said the consignees of the three containers were Felgit International Ltd, Revelations Global Logistics and Almiftah Investment Ltd.

He said that five suspects have already been arrested over the matter adding that two more suspects are being pursued by the police.

However, he said multi agency team led by KRA carried out verification process and discovered that counterfeited cables had been labeled as East Africa cables and coast cables companies products.

He said the consignment also had labels indicating that had been made in Kenya.
