Ksh.1B fake currency discovered in Westlands, three arrested

Police arrested two Chadian nationals and a Kenyan who were found with over Ksh.1billion in fake currency in Nairobi on Monday evening.

The detectives led by flying squad head Musa Yego raided a house in Westlands area where they recovered the huge sum of fake money that was in foreign currency.

“Detectives today afternoon arrested three men namely Abdoulaye Tamba, Abdalla Tamba (both nationals of Chad) & Anthony Mwangangi, a Kenyan, who is their driver following a tip-off from members of public,” DCI said on Twitter.

Yego said police are in hot pursuit of another man who managed to escape the police dragnet.

The foreigners have been preying on Kenyans with claims that they could double their money through black magic.

Detectives have also revealed that the foreigners in question have been in the country for over 10 years and they are looking to establish what the owner of the house they were residing in knows about them.

Police also recovered paraphernalia used by the scammers in the three-bedroom apartment.

According to detectives, the raid follows complaints filed by people who claim they had been conned by the suspects in custody.
