Ksh.200M plan for Embu Governor, deputy houses opposed

A section of the church leaders have opposed the construction of Embu Governor Martin Wambora’s official residence expected to cost Ksh.100million.

They are also against plans to build houses for Embu Deputy Governor David Kariuki and County Assembly Speaker Josiah Thiriku each said to cost Ksh.50million.

The clergy are accusing the county government of having misplaced priorities by initiating projects which do not benefit the local mwananchi.

Over 60 of them from various denominations under The Assemblies Pentecostal churches now want Wambora to set the record straight.

They are demanding that he address more pressing issues such as water shortage in Mbeere region and improvement of health facilities.

Led by their Secretary General, Gerald Thiga, the clergy added that it was a shame that the governor and his administration “keep making excuses” for not delivering on their mandate.

Speaking during a press conference in Embu town, Thiga also apportioned blame to the county executive committee members and officers under them for not providing essential services.

Thiga, who is a pastor at Agape Fellowship Center Church, further noted that religious leaders are “close to the people and understand their troubles.”
