Ksh.50 million for new bus park in Samburu

The Samburu County government is set demolish a section of Maralal’s miraa market to make way for the construction of a new Ksh.50 million bus park.

Addressing the media, Roads and Public Works the County Executive Committee member Steve Lekupe said the project is part of a Municipal Development Programme funded by the World Bank.

“This particular year, the county government of Samburu will be funded to a tune of Ksh.50 million for urban development. In our last cabinet meeting, we resolved that all that money will go into building a new bus park for Maralal,” said Mr Lekupa.

“The market will be currently where we have the miraa market, we want to demolish that market.”

He urged the traders who ply their trade in the market to relocate to other areas before the bulldozers show up and flatten their business premises.
