Ksh500,000 reward offered for information on Booker police station attackers

The national police service has offered a Ksh500, 000 reward for any person with crucial information that would lead to the arrest of criminals who invaded Booker Police Post in Mumias, and recovery of the weapons stolen.

Unknown people broke into Booker Police Patrol Station on Friday, November 23, attacked the officer on duty, injuring him critically and proceeded to the armoury where they made away with seven G3 rifles and other ammunition.

The injured police officer is recuperating at the Moi Teaching and referral Hospital in Eldoret.

Heavy police deployment that has since combed the area has not been able to catch the attackers, with police urging members of the public to volunteer information regarding the attackers to the Directorate of Criminal Investigation office or to call the toll-free police service lines; 999, 112 or 911.

Police have promised to keep persons sharing the information anonymous and to maintain confidentiality with the information they receive.

Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet has further ordered an immediate investigation into alleged police brutality meted out on ordinary citizens during the search for the assailants and the weapons.
