Kuria Clinches TNA Party Ticket For Gatundu South

This was after he won in the nomination exercise conducted yesterday.

The by-election for the constituency is slated for the 7th of August.

Kuria won by garnering 7,777 votes against his closest challenger Joyce Ngugi, the widow of the late area MP Jossy Nyumu who got 6,968 votes.

Another candidate Kiarie Kamere was third with 2,042 and John Ndung’u Karing’u 1,744 votes.

The primaries were earlier yesterday marred by chaos after one of the aspirants and his supporters protested over alleged rigging.

The seat fell vacant after the death of the former MP Ngugi who suffered from a heart attack that led to his demise.

A similar TNA exercise for the Mathare constituency witnessed its fair share of controversies.
