Lab technicians decry harassment
The Association of Kenya Medical Laboratory Scientific Officers has given Health Cabinet Secretary Cleopa Mailu 14 days to address alleged harassment and intimidation of its members, or they will take to the streets.
According to Association Secretary General Harun Anunda, lab technicians are facing harassment, extortion, framed arrests, hiked license fees, and unwarranted victimisation.
Anunda alleged the Technologists Board is dysfunctional, and lab technicians are being frustrated before being licensed, even after meeting all legal requirements.
The association is now demanding the advertisement and reconstitution of the board’s top positions to ensure their interests and grievances are adequately addressed.
