Labour Court okays vetting of procurement officers

The Labour and Employment Court has set aside orders suspending the vetting of procurement officers.

This means that the procurement officers will proceed on compulsory leave to allow investigations to proceed.

Earlier orders had suspended the directive that the procurement managers step down.

However on Wednesday, the judge found that Okiya Omtata failed to disclose that he had filed another petition against the appointment of Joseph Kinyua as Head of Public Service.

“Omtata failed to make full disclosure of material facts at the stage of ex-party orders.

“The court therefore sets aside the ex-party orders directs that the case proceed to full hearing,” Justice Onesmus Makau ruled.

The court has also added the procurement officers 10 days from today to provide the necessary information.
