Labour CS Launches Plan to Combat Human Trafficking

Speaking during the launch, the CS said that the national plan was in harmony with Kenya’s blue print for development, adding that by implementing the plan, her ministry would be spearheading the achievement of a just and cohesive society in a secure environment.

She further stated that the plan would ensure information is readily available, to enable compilation of reports on the human trafficking situation in the country and efforts to counter the vice that will be used in the future.

A 2014 US report on human trafficking placed Kenya on tier-two watch list as one of the countries making significant efforts to comply with the minimum standards set in the US Trafficking Victims Protection Act.

Human trafficking refers to the act of recruiting, harboring or transporting people for labour or commercial sex against their will.
