Lari MP Jonah Mburu freed on a Ksh.2M cash bail in multi-million graft case
Lari Member of Parliament Jonah Mburu was on Monday released on a Ksh.2million cash bail by a Nairobi Court.
The legislator denied involvement in a multi-million fraud case and was barred from accessing the CDF offices.
He will also be required to submit his passport to the court pending the mention of the case on October 9.
The MP was arrested and released Friday pending his date in court alongside five others who are on EACC’s radar for graft.
The accused persons who include CDF Committee members and suppliers are accused of being behind the misappropriation of Ksh.27 million.
The DPP listed the MP alongside his company Pambazuko Distributors Limited, Ayaan Mahadhi, a NG-CDF accounts Manager, Peter Mugo Mwangi CDF Committee Chairperson and proprietor of two firms), and Francis Gachoka Kimuyu (the CDF Clerk who dabbles as the director of Kimondo and Sons General Supplies).
The MP and the CDF officials are accused of conflict of interest having traded with the NG-CDF with their own companies.
The lot, according to the DPP, will face charges of conspiracy to commit corruption, conflict of interest, abuse of office, willful failure to comply with procurement laws, dealing with suspect property and acting without authorization.
