Law Society of Kenya elections underway
The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) is currently conducting elections for various officials of the Law Society of Kenya (LSK).
In a press release, the electoral body stated that voting takes place at 25 Court premises across the country that will serve as polling centres.
A total of 69 candidates are contesting for 26 positions which include, LSK Female Representative to the Judicial Service Commission (JSC), LSK President, Vice-President, Council Members, LSK Council Representatives for Nairobi, Upcountry, and Coast region, Advocates Disciplinary Tribunal, as well the Chairperson and Council Members, for the LSK Nairobi Branch.
Tallying will take place at LSK offices on Gitanga Road, Nairobi from 6PM.
The Returning Officer is Anorld Wekesa, while Benjamin Kimwei is the Deputy Returning Officer.
The 25 polling centres are at the High Court /Law Court in Mombasa, Malindi, Machakos, Kisumu, Nairobi (Milimani Court), Nairobi (Supreme Court), Nakuru and Kericho. The others are Bungoma, Kakamega, Kitale, Kisii, Eldoret, Meru, Nyeri, Busia, Embu, Migori, Kitui, Mumias, Nyahururu, Murang’a, Thika, Homabay and Kerugoya.
