Lawyer Haron Ndubi arrested outside State House

Human Rights lawyer Haron Ndubi is set to be arraigned in court on Monday morning after he was arrested last evening for allegedly driving while drunk.

Nairobi Police boss Japheth Koome said Ndubi was apprehended at around 9pm on Jakaya Kikwete Road near Gate D to State House.

According to the police, Ndubi was found asleep with his car parked in the middle of the road.

While police say the lawyer was overly drunk, Ndubi and other human rights activists maintain that he was drugged.

It is aleged that Ndubi declined to take an alcoblow test prompting police to arrest and lock him up ahead of arraignment in court.

Koome said Ndubi was taken to Kileleshwa Police Station and will be charged with driving under the influence of alcohol.
