City lawyer Haron Mong’are Ndubi was on Monday arraigned in a Nairobi court and charged with two counts in the traffic court; careless driving and failing to obey verbal directives given by a police officer.
Ndubi was charged that on February 3, 2019 at about 6:30p.m along Lang’ata road, he drove on a public road without due care and attention to other road users by failing to give way and hitting a police motorcycle thereby damaging it and causing injury to the officer.
The advocate was also charged with failing to obey verbal directives given by a police officer by refusing to blow into a breathalyzer.
The traffic court, presided by Magistrate Elector Riany, heard that Mr. Ndubi is not a first time offender as he is facing a similar offence at the Milimani Court; the case was, however, stopped by the High Court from proceeding.
Mr. Ndubi’s advocate, Senior Counsel John Khaminwa, earlier on opposed him taking plea on a basis not stated but the magistrate declined the request.
He denied all the charges and was released on a cash bail of Ksh.80,000.
