Lawyer stabbed to death by fellow advocate at house party

Police in Eldoret are holding a lawyer who is accused of stabbing his fellow advocate to death at a house party in Eldoret, Uasin Gishu County.

The suspect, Abel Mogaka, was on Wednesday arraigned before Eldoret Chief Magistrate Charles Obulutsa where the prosecution made an application for 10 days to complete investigations as well as modify the charges against the accused.

The court will rule on the two application on Thursday.

The accused is alleged to have stabbed and seriously injured his colleague after a confrontation ensued between them during a party hosted at a house of their fellow advocate on Friday, May 17.

The victim, however, died on Tuesday, May 21 while receiving treatment at Mediheal Hospital in Eldoret.

The prosecution was set to charge the accused with stabbing and injuring the deceased but are now considering preferring charges of murder against him.

The motive behind the incident could not be immediately established.
