Lawyer Wants Ruto Sworn As President
Kiprono Mata-Gei moved to the Nairobi High Court seeking orders from the Chief Justice declaring the handing over of power by Uhuru Kenyatta as resignation.
The lawyer in his suit wants the Acting President sworn in as President for the remaining three years of the Jubilee Coalition's term.
Mata-Gei in his court papers argues that Uhuru Kenyatta's handover of the instruments of power and the presidential motorcade is interpreted as resignation from office.
This comes just a day after Kenyatta surrendered power to his Deputy Ruto who will act for 48 hours
The move was to allow him to attend the International Criminal Court Status Conference scheduled for tomorrow, Wednesday on his crimes against humanity case.
Mr Kenyatta is accused of being behind the 2008 post election violence.
