Lawyer who sought to stop politician Mark Toos burial goes missing

Eldoret-based lawyer, Simion Lilan, who had moved to court seeking to stop the burial of former nominated Member of Parliament, Mark Too, has gone missing.

According to his brother, John Talam, Lilan went missing on burial day after calling a press conference to react on vacation by an Eldoret court on the order to stop the burial.

Speaking in Eldoret, Talam said Lilan had reported to the family that his life was in danger since some unknown people had asked to meet him.

He said they have been searching for him since Monday, January 9, but in vain as is phone is off.

“We have reported his disappearance at an Eldoret police station under OB No. 120/9/1/2017. He had told me that he was going to look for money to fuel his car before he went missing,” said Mr Talam.

Lilan went to court to stop the burial of Mark Too saying an independent post mortem should be conducted to know what killed him, noting that his death was political.

In a press conference that morning, Lilan had expressed fears that some politicians from the region had phoned and threatened him for moving to court.
