Leaders condemn youth for heckling CS Keter

A section of leaders drawn from Kericho County have accused some youth of orchestrating violence by trying to disrupt an address by Energy Cabinet Secretary, Charles Keter, on Wednesday, January 25.

The leaders, led by youth leader Ronald Kipkirui and Paul Chirchir, were reacting following indecency displayed by a section of youth who tried to shut down the Cabinet Secretary while addressing the residents of Sotik in Bomet County, an area perceived as a stronghold of Bomet Governor, Isaac Ruto.

The youth booed Keter who had accompanied Deputy President William Ruto in his voter registration mobilization campaign in the vote-rich South Rift region.

Mr Kipkirui said that the youth displayed bad manners by shutting down the CS who was only doing his job as he was launching the Last Mile Connectivity Programme in the area.

The programme aims at connecting all public primary schools to power as well as ensuring a large population of Kenyan homesteads are powered by the end of this year.

They further argued that Mr Keter was within his right to accompany the Deputy President in his mission of voter registration mobilization as he is part of the government.
