Leaders React To Mpeketoni Attack

The seven MPs led by Kikuyu Mp Kimani Ichungwa, his Juja counterpart Alice Ng’ang’a and Nairobi women representative Rachael Shebesh have also claimed that Cord leaders are issuing inciting statements in their rallies.

The Jubilee MPs have further alleged that the terror attacks in the country might be a plot to destabilize the country.

However in a quick rejoinder Cord leaders led by Bungoma senator Moses Wetangula his Kakamega counterpart Bonny Khalwale and Busia senator Amos Wako have come out strongly to deny the claims.

Cord leaders have instead called for the resignation of interior security cabinet secretary Joseph ole Lenku over the increased terror attacks in the country.

Speaking to the press on Monday afternoon, interior secretary Joseph ole Lenku said that those behind these attacks are being pursued and will face the full force of the law.

Lenku added that “Kenya is greater than an individual.”

Lenku further stated that  “We will not allow individuals to threaten the lives of Kenyans.”

President Kenyatta had earlier on summoned security chiefs to State House, Nairobi over the attack.

The Government says it is investigating a possible political link to the Mpeketoni attack that has claimed at least 53 lives.
