Leaders Sign Marsabit Peace Deal

Leaders from Marsabit County have agreed on the formation of an oversight team that will implement measures for a long lasting peace in the county. Former national assembly speaker Francis Ole Kaparo and Garissa County Senator Yusuf Haji – who were both appointed by President Kenyatta to mediate a truce in Marsabit – said they will next week be presenting to the president a report on the agreement which recommends among other things equal resource distribution and resettlement of the displaced.
