Leading Nairobi doctor launches autobiography

Renowned Nairobi Hospital chest specialist Dr Joseph Alouch Wednesday evening launched his autobiography ‘In The Footsteps of My Father’ at Nairobi Safari Club.

Dr Aluoch said that the book took him two years to write, adding that while some people write autobiographies for fame and money, his motive in writing the book was to honour his late father who was also a doctor.

He also said his objective of going into medicine was to help people, not make money.

“Doctors now want to make money, when I started off, it was making my patients feel better first,” said Dr Alouch.

The doctor-turned-author dictated his book to his family, who were also present at the event.

Dr Aluoch is married to International Criminal Court judge Lady Justice Joyce Aluoch, whom she visits at the Netherlands every weekend in a show of love and dedication.

Dr Aluoch has been married to Joyce for 41 years and together they have three children, Brenda, Sandra and Connie.

“I married my wife when she was a law student, she was not a judge, I hear people say I must be very lucky to have married a judge,” he said.

Attorney General Githu Muigai, who was the chief guest at the event, said Dr Aluoch had inspired him to write his own autobiography.
