Learners fail to take exams as school manager goes missing

Twenty five Early Childhood Development and Education (ECDE) trainees from Davis Elite Center in Bahati, Nakuru County on Tuesday accused the institution of malice after their names missed in the 2016 ECDE Diploma Examinations register.

According to the 2016 ECDE certificate examination timetable and instructions released by the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC), the examinations kicked off on Monday, December 5 and are set to conclude on Thursday, December 8.

The 15 diploma students and 10 certificate students had paid Ksh 11,680 and Ksh 8,140 respectively for the examinations.

“We have been studying hard since 2014 . My full salary was converted into school fees,” said one of the affected students only identified as Timothy.

The students became more suspicious after efforts to reach the school Manager hit a dead end as his phone was out of reach.

Nakuru North District Education Officer (DEO), Gabriel Kinoru, said that KNEC had not registered anyone from the institution to sit for the exams this year.

He called on the students to record statements at Bahati Police Station saying that justice will be administered.
