Ledama now says incitement claims are a distraction

Narok Senator Ledama Ole Kina has now termed allegations of incitement over the ongoing Mau Forest evictions as a ‘red herring’.

Speaking on Citizen TV’s Day Break show, Ledama reiterated his support for the government’s move to evict those encroaching on Mau Forest land.

According to him: “The water catchment area is important to the people of Narok and the continent, what am doing is right and I will not waste my time responding to those people.”

Ledama has since been summoned for interrogation and will appear before the Narok County Security Team and Intelligence officers on Monday at 10am.

This follows remarks he made during the burial of one of the victims of the Mau Forest clashes in Nkoben.

According to Kericho Woman Representative Florence Bore and Njoro MP Charity Kathambi, the senator’s words will only spread violence and instability.

So far, over 12,000 people have been rendered homeless in Mau with 23 schools closed, affecting approximately 10,000 learners.
