Leopard attack leaves tens of sheep dead

Residents of Nyana Gibiringo village in Mathira Constituency in Nyeri County are counting losses after a Leopard attacked their livestock leaving hundreds tens of sheep dead.

Addressing the press, David Kinyua, one of the affected farmers, called on the Kenya Wildlife Services (KWS) to take action and capture the stray animal to protect them from further attacks that have also put their lives at risk.

Another resident, Elizabeth Gathoni, said that their calls to the administration to capture stray animals and compensate them have always fallen on deaf ears and threatened to take action into their own hands.

The residents are now demanding government intervention and compensation for the losses suffered.

According to Danson Muriithi, a resident, they now fear for their children who go to school early and may be attacked by these stray animals.
