Let’s sort out the issues you have with ODM, Ababu told

Hot on the heels of his resignation from the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), Budalangi MP Ababu Namwamba has been urged to give room for negations with the party.

Speaking on Saturday in a political rally in Bondo, ODM Siaya County Branch Secretary, Carey Orege told the Western Kenya leader to look for amicable solutions to differences that he has with the party leadership.

Despite Ababu’s declarations about ditching the Orange party, Orege said that the door is still open for negotiations ahead of the 2017 General Elections.

Meanwhile the former PS, who had announced his bid to run for the County’s gubernatorial seat, assured his supporters that he is still in the race.

His statement comes following rumours that Orege was considering being Cornel Rasanga’s running mate in the upcoming polls.

Ababu has, however, shot down the probability of joining hands with either CORD or Jubilee, saying that he is focused on uniting the Western Kenya voting block.

“No one should salivate and covet the political opportunities created by our actions and resignation from ODM positions. If anyone expects to reap from the decisions my colleagues and I have taken, they are mistaken. Although a girl has no control over the roaming eyes of any boy that may have designs on her, sadly for any suitors out there, Jubilee or CORD, this girl is simply not available!” Ababu said.

Rubbishing claims that he and other ODM rebels were paid hefty amounts to jump ship, the former party leader stated that move to consolidate the Western Kenya voting block was driven by the House of Mulembe’s “self determination” desire.

“This is about self-determination. The very thought of the western region consolidating its political strength and reaching out to other parts of the country to build a formidable alliance is terrifying to those who have traditionally targeted the House of Mulembe as their hunting ground,” he said.

Ababu stated that the bringing together the traditionally fragmented Luhya vote was a threat to political players, and this has motivated opponents to churn out “spurious propaganda” to discredit them. He, however, reiterated his commitment to uniting Western Kenya.
