Liberian President Orders Curfew In Capital Monrovia

The curfew is aimed at blocking movement in and out of the West Point area in a bid to curb the deadly Ebola outbreak following last Saturday’s incident where Ebola patients fled a health Centre.

The curfew is set to take effect today, Wednesday from 21:00 to 06:00 GMT.

This comes even as the country’s Ministry of Health announced that three of its health care workers who were given the experimental Ebola drug, ZMapp have shown very positive signs of recovery.

The World Health Organization (WHO) also says there are encouraging signs of controlling Ebola outbreak in Nigeria since the affected persons are in a known chain.

WHO has also called on the affected countries to carry out screenings of travelers at international airports, seaports and major land crossings.

Several airlines have also suspended their flights to Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone to control outbreak of the deadly virus.

The death toll from the outbreak in West Africa has risen 1,229 since the beginning of the year.
