Life imprisonment for Marsabit health officer who defiled 10yr-old girl

A senior public health officer from Marsabit County has been jailed for life for defiling a 10-year-old girl.

George Lemayan Lenamira alias Abubakar was found guilty of raping the minor four times in one night.

The crime took place at Kargi in Marsabit South.

In his ruling, Marsabit Principal Magistrate Boaz Ombewa found that the evidence presented was credible.

He further dismissed claims by the accused that girl’s family had a grudge with him and framed him for the crime.

The magistrate maintained that the evidence from the child was unchallengeable and sufficient to warrant the conviction.

The accused was found guilty and convicted pursuant to Section 215 of the Criminal Procedure Code which holds that:

“The court having heard both the complainant and the accused person and their witnesses and evidence shall either convict the accused and pass sentence upon or make an order against him according to law, or shall acquit him.”

In January this year, a chief from Marsabit was arraigned in court for defiling his Class Six daughter twice.
