Lightning strike kills three siblings, injures others in Busia

A family in Busia County is in agony after lightning struck and killed three of their members and injured three others during a heavy downpour on Saturday night.

Busia County Police Commander Wambua Katithi said the family of six were inside their house at Achudinet village in Teso North Constituency when tragedy struck at around 8.30pm.

The deceased were two sisters aged 9 and 14 and their 20-year-old brother, while the injured was the children’s father, mother and a grandson aged one-and-half years.

The survivors, who sustained minor injuries, were taken to Kocholia Hospital while the bodies of the deceased were moved to the mortuary at the same health facility.
