List of Raila overseas trips after Uhuru handshake

Opposition leader Raila Odinga left the country this week for a one-week visit in Germany.

Pictures on his social media pages showed him departing from the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA).

Four days ago, Odinga was in Tanzania for the funeral of President John Magufuli’s sister, Monica Joseph.

During the trip, he met with former Tanzanian Presidents Jakaya Kikwete, Benjamin Mkapa and Ali Hassan Mwinyi in Mwanza.

In July, he travelled to South Africa for the 16th Annual Nelson Mandela Lecture that was delivered by former U.S. President Barack Obama.

Raila met with South African President Cyril Ramaphosa and former Heads of State Jacob Zuma and Kgalema Motlanthe in the Eastern Cape.

Chief Zwelivelile Mandela, grandson to the late Nelson Mandela, hosted the leaders at his rural home.

Raila had earlier travelled to South Africa in April for the funeral of the late Winnie Mandela.

When Obama visited Kenya on July 15, he met with the Opposition leader during which they discussed the sports facility in Kogelo, the Building Bridges Initiative and the South Sudan peace talks.

Odinga has also been to India to discuss increased investment in Kenya and the United Kingdom where he held talks with Harriet Baldwin, the Minister of State for Africa.

He delivered a public lecture at Cambridge University and engaged with students of the Oxford Union debate society.

In Kenya, he has been holding talks with envoys from different countries and local leaders in a bid to reconcile the country after the famous handshake with President Uhuru Kenyatta.
