List of school principals moved in TSC mass transfer

Over 500 schools across the country will have new principals and deputies as the Teachers Service Commission continues with its controversial mass transfer effective January 2018.

Principals in 31 national schools have been moved to schools of equal stature located in different counties from stations they have been serving.

At the extra-county boy schools, 77 teachers have been moved while the same number has been shifted in the girls’ schools of the same category.

This even as teachers have threaten to paralyse the opening of schools next month if the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) does not suspend the mass transfer of principals and head teachers.

“We totally oppose the unilateral decision to transfer 557 principals. We consider the idea ill conceived and we suspect the plotters do not mean well as this action could, at the end, negatively affect the sector in many ways including demoralising hardworking and successful teachers who are taking this action as punishment and poor performance in the affected schools,” said the Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) Secretary General Wilson Sossion.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, December 26, Sossion directed the affected teachers to disregard the transfer notices sent to them.

While announcing the mass transfers that will affect 557 head teachers, the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) said the changes are part of a new delocalisation programme meant to promote national integration.
