Liverpool Winger Raheem Sterling ‘Rejected’ by Fans

The booing, emanating from a section of fans, seem to have been elicited by the Sterling’s earlier statement that he will ask to leave the club.

The England international is expected to tell manager Brendan Rodgers and chief executive Ian Ayre on Friday that he wants to leave the club this summer.

Meanwhile, the club manager has attributed their dismal performance in the current season to “a number of distractions that we couldn't have planned for".

By finishing outside the top four, Liverpool misses out on a place in next season’s Champions League. Rodgers also becomes the first Reds boss to fail to win a trophy his first three seasons since the 1950s.

Brazilian midfielder Philippe Coutinho, 22, was voted Player of the season.

Sterling, whose contract ends in 2017, reportedly rejected a new £100,000-a-week contract in April as he seeks to push his way out of the club.

Should the 20-year-old decide to leave, several clubs both in England and abroad may be his next move with Manchester City a frontrunner for his signature.
