Lobby moves to court to stop Railas oathing

A lobby group has moved to the High Court seeking to stop the January 30 swearing-in of NASA leader Raila Odinga and co-principal Kalonzo Musyoka as the People’s President and Deputy President respectively.

The group, dubbed Bunge la Mwananchi through advocate Dennis Kirwa Kosgei wants NASA declared to be violating Article 1 of the Constitution should they swear in the duo.

They further argue that should the swearing in be allowed, it will amount to mockery of the Constitution and lead to civil disobedience.

They aver that the conduct of NASA risks Kenya to unwarranted security threat both internally and externally.

Further, the lobby group wants the court to declare Article 1 of the Constitution of Kenya is in force, and that it is mandatory that exercise of sovereignty of the people of Kenya after a general election is through its elected representatives.

The matter has been filed and awaits court allocation for ex-perte hearing.
