Lorry carrying 19 tons of fish meant for export overturns

A lorry transporting 19 tonnes (an equivalent of 19000 kilogrammes) of fish from Kolokol in Turkana County overturned in Kusuroi on Wednesday November 29 morning after the driver reportedly lost control.

According to the driver of the lorry, John Wafula, the truck lost control and veered off the road due to the weight of its load.

Wafula who sustained minor injuries in the accident was rushed to Lokichar Sub County Hospital while the fish destined for Sirare in Tanzania scattered all over the accident scene.

Area residents have urged the government to expedite the process of repairing the busy pothole-laden Lodwar -South Sudan road especially given its busy nature.

According to residents, the road was last repaired in the 1980s by retired President Daniel Moi.
