Love story turns sour as man is arrested for defilement

A 21-year-old man from Makuri Sub Location, Maara District found himself behind bars on Friday after he was arrested for defiling a 17-year-old girl.

Frank Kinoti was apprehended by police when a From Three student, who had been reported missing for three weeks, was found in his home.

Confirming the incident, area Sub-Chief Mutembei Mukaraku said that there were reports that the student had gotten married to Kinoti.

Upon interrogation, the girl said that they were in love and she was already two months pregnant and that’s why she decided to drop out of school.

The two have been remanded at Chuka Police Station head of their arraignment.

This comes just a few days after an 80-year-old clinical officer was reported to have allegedly defiled a 15-year-old school girl who had gone to seek medical attention at his private clinic.

Walter Omwake, who runs Walmar Community Eye and Medical Clinic, is alleged to have defiled the minor in his examination room on Sunday.

Omwoke is said to have committed the beastly act when he locked himself up with the minor in one of the rooms under the guise of examining her.

The girl’s mother says she took her daughter for an eye check-up, but the doctor asked her to leave the room so that he could conduct the examinations.

This is not the first time a doctor has been accused of sexually abusing a patient under their care.

In September, Citizen TV ran an expose on Mugo Wa Wairimu, a fake doctor, who was filmed abusing his patients.

In the video footage, Mugo is seen raping a sedated woman who had reportedly visited his clinic for medical attention.

Mugo is currently out on a cash bail of Ksh1 million.

The Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board (KMPDB) came out strongly to discredit Mugo’s clinical operations saying he is neither registered with the board in any capacity.

Cases of fake doctors have also been on the rise over the recent past in the country.
