Low voter turnout in Kajiado angers Nkaissery

Interior Cabinet Secretary, Major Gen. (Rtd.) Joseph Nkaissery, has expressed disappointment over the low turnout of people registering as voters in Kajiado.

Nkaissery, who is on a countrywide tour assessing security situation during the ongoing voter listing exercise, kicked off his tour in Kajiado where he challenged residents to come out and register as voters.

He challenged them against waiting for the last minute saying such moves lead to some people not being listed.

“I’m so disappointed and it is so shameful that Kajiado has such a low turnout during this mass voter registration,” said the visibly angry Nkaissery.

The CS was speaking during a stop at the Maasai Technical Training Institute where he was accompanied by County Commander, Philemon Mboya, National Intelligence Service (NIS) boss, Julius Ndonye, and Deputy County Commissioners.

Nkaissery called upon all officials to spread the word on the ongoing registration process and asked officials in charge of issuing Identity Cards to make themselves available to the citizens countrywide.

Kajiado County Commissioner, Kello Hermasa, threatened to sack chiefs who will not show loyalty to the government that employed them and therefore urged them to follow the CS’s directives.
