LSK condemns lawyer Robert Chesangs murder, urges Boinnet to expedite probe

The Law Society of Kenya (LSK) has condemned the murder of advocate Robert Chesang who was found dead at his home in Lukenya area, Machakos County, on Sunday.

According to police reports, Mr. Chesang was shot dead at midday by two gunmen who fled the scene after committing the crime.

LSK, in a statement released on Monday, further called upon Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet as well as the country’s security agencies to expedite investigations into the killing.

“Preliminary reports reaching us indicate that Mr. Chesang was home alone at the time of the incident and may have been tortured first then later dragged from his bedroom to the living room before being shot seven times in cold blood,” read the statement signed by President Allen Gichuhi.

“This incident reminds us of collegaues who have lost their lives in the hands of unknown assailants and are yet to get justice.”

Police officers who spoke to Citizen Digital said the Mr. Chesang was alone when he was accosted, adding that seven spent cartridges of an AK47 rifle were recovered at the scene.

The body of the deceased was moved to Shalom Hospital mortuary in Athi River.
