LSK Demands Lifting Of Lamu Curfew
The organization says it will be forced to move to court upon the expiry of the two weeks
LSK Chairman Erick Mutua says the curfew imposed by Inspector General of Police David Kimaiyo is negatively affecting the economy of the area
The curfew is now on its third month
Mutua insisted that the government should lift the 6pm to 6am curfew or face the lawsuit.
LSK said that the move is in the interest of the people of Lamu who are hard hit by the curfew
The curfew was slapped in July by the police chief following a series of attacks that led to the killings of more than 100 people
Al Shabaab claimed responsibility of the attacks that were carried out in the county saying that they were avenging the presence of Kenya’s military in Somalia
