LSK Issues Notice To AG, Solicitor General Over Anglo Leasing

LSK has given Prof Githu Muigai, Njee Muturi and Muthoni Kimani seven days to respond to claims of alleged conspiracy to lose the two Anglo Leasing type cases leading to the Ksh 1.4 billion shilling payment by government.

The legal body chaired by Eric Mutua blames the three for allegedly issuing misleading legal opinion to government on cases filed in the UK by Universal Satspace and First Mercantile Security Corporation.

LSK further accuses the three of failing to obey the law and defend public interest in the cases leading to President Uhuru Kenyatta ordering the scandalous payment that was done on Monday.

The Principal Secretary of Treasury Dr. Kamau Thuge confirmed the payment of Ksh 1.4 billion shillings two days ago to an English Law firm through Natwest Bank in the UK.

While appearing before Parliament’s Public Accounts Committee, Thuge explained that the government seriously needed the money for this financial year ending in just about 39 days.

The committee led by its Chair Ababu Namwamba gave a 24hrs notice for them to get all the information from CBK for presentation on Friday.

Parliament’s Public Accounts Committee will continue its hearings tomorrow with the Solicitor General expected to appear before the committee.
