LSK ‘sues’ government over killing of anti-IEBC protesters

The Law Society of Kenya Kisumu branch has kicked off the process of suing the state to compensate families of protesters killed during the anti-IEBC demonstrations in Siaya and Kisumu Counties.

LSK Kisumu branch Chair Francis Olel says a team of five lawyers has been formed to offer free legal services to the families of the four victims who perished during the protests and those who were brutalized by police.

Addressing the press in Kisumu, Olel called on those seeking compensation to present relevant documents to the LSK lawyers.

Olel further announced that only those who will present hospital reports, post-mortem examination reports and other relevant documents will be eligible for representation.

He further called for restrain from the protesters to restrain from violent activities in the future.
