LSK wants Matiangi, Mucheru sacked over media shutdown
The Law Society of Kenya has moved to court seeking to have ICT CS Joe Mucheru and Interior CS Fred Matiang’i declared unfit to hold public office for shutting down three television stations in January this year.
The lawyers body argues the two Cabinet Secretaries alongside the Communications Authority Director abused their powers and authority by “acting in a partisan, subjective and dictatorial manner.”
In a petition filed at the Milimani Law Courts, LSK wants the three to be held personally accountable for violating their oath of office.
According to LSK, the CAK Director, CS Mucheru and CS Matiang’i acted “knowingly, deliberately and willfully against the law and in disregard of the constitution, a lawful court order and the sovereign power of the people of Kenya.”
Citizen TV , KTN News and NTV are listed as interested parties in the case.
