Machakos CEC denies reports that baby disappeared after birth

Health CEC Anset Kituku has dismissed claims that a baby disappeared from the Machakos Level Five Hospital.

According to the county official, the media misled the country when they reported the incident.

” It is misleading for a section of the media to claim that the baby disappeared soon after birth yet nothing could be further from the truth,” he said on Friday.

According to him, the 17-year-old mother, a Form Three student, was awake during the procedure and saw her baby.

He alleged that the baby was taken to an incubator for specialised treatment.

Apparently the baby developed complications before passing on a few hours later.

He further alleged that the mother was shown the body of the baby after efforts to resuscitate him failed.

Dr Kituku further said a DNA test would be conducted to confirm that the baby belonged to the young mother.

The body has been moved to the hospital mortuary.
