Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua on the spot over poor roads
A section of Machakos residents have now taken to social media to kick up a storm over the poor state of some roads in the county.
Twitter user Ms. Bee, taking to the social site early Monday morning, slammed the contractor working on Katani Road for a shoddy job.
According to the lady, the contractor is “just digging trenches and not covering,” thereby leading to accidents as vehicles overturn on the road.
She further urged Governor Alfred Mutua to look into the matter saying there are no alternative roads for motorists plying the route.
The post sparked reactions with a large number slamming Governor Mutua for what one of them – Bobo Shanti – termed as “malpractice” and “complacency.”
In response, however, Governor Mutua maintained that Katani road is under construction by the Kenya Urban Roads Authority, urging residents to be patient and use the diversions provided by the contractor.
“We request for patience due to the adverse weather but are committed to complete the project in the shortest time possible,” said the Machakos Governor.
