Machakos Governor Mutua defends his barabara chap chap strategy

Dr. Alfred Mutua has defended the state of one of his county’s roads – Kavindu-Masinga road – that has fallen apart after just two months.

The road was constructed in December 2017 with a lot of fanfare with claims that it took a mere ten minutes per kilometer but that strategy was questioned when just days later, images surfaced showing a badly dilapidated roadway.

Images show the top layer of the road has peeled off causing the condition of the road making driving on the road dangerous because of the loose chippings.

According to Mutua, the roadway’s current condition is part of the construction process saying it should be completed in a week. He further blamed opposition coalition NASA for sharing the images terming it as a way of spreading propaganda.

“Those images are from NASA people. They are not the images on my Facebook account and they don’t represent what is on the ground,” he said. He also blamed the media for spreading propaganda through airing information without concrete evidence.

“The media is using pictures that don’t relate to the situation on the ground. They are spreading propaganda by not showing both sides of the story,” said the Machakos Governor.

The governor, who bears 2022 presidential ambitions said that he has not failed in delivering his promises blaming the lag on “certain political figures” blocking his progress.

“We got investors from all over the world to invest and put up factories. Wiper Party was fighting me because I was doing things that were making its leaders look bad. Some of their leaders went to court and we got an injunction, halting the process. We have been in court for four years,” said Alfred Mutua.
