Machakos: Scott Christian University students kick out VC

Students of Scott Christian University in Machakos on Monday morning forcefully ejected the institution’s Vice Chancellor, Prof. Mumo Kisau.

The students cited reasons for their action as mismanagement and mishandling of accounts as well as nepotism.

The learners, who reported back to the university last week and were set to resume their studies on Monday, stated that they had tried all avenues to air their grievances in vain.

Speaking to the media, the student’s body president Phillip Kirui stated that accommodation, abuse of Christian values as well as a recent dismissal of a senior lecturer were some of the main issues.

The students did not cause any destruction to the school and only locked the besieged VC’s office saying they would hand them over the keys to the area Africa Inland Church (AIC) Bishop.

Abednego Musau, the institution spiritual leader, noted that the university has lost the Scott Foundation that used to support needy students due to mismanagement.

The students, while calling for auditing, also complained of high amount of school fees allegedly paid by new students.

At the time of publishing, journalists were denied entry into the school as a meeting between the school’s Board Chairperson Lloyd Masika, and the school management was ongoing.
