Magoha shuts down Greenfield School in Mombasa

Education CS George Magoha has shut down Greenfield School in Changamwe, Mombasa County.

This was after the institution that has 445 pupils was found to have substandard structures.

During a tour of the school on Friday, CS Magoha reiterated his directive that all learning institutions that pose a danger to students be shut down.

This follows the death of 8 pupils on Monday after their classrooms at Precious Talents School in Nairobi collapsed.

Over 50 pupils were rushed to hospital with serious injuries.

So far, four schools have been shut down: Precious Talents in Dagoretti, Pama Academy in Kangemi, St Catherine Bombolulu Primary School in Kibra and Greenfield School in Mombasa.

On Wednesday, CS Magoha ordered an audit and immediate closure of schools with substandard infrastructure countrywide.

The owner of Precious Talents Moses Wainaina has been arrested though he blames the Nairobi County Government for the collapse of the school building.

According to him, a sewer line that constructed underneath the building is what led to the eventual collapse.
