Mailu to head Nkaisserys funeral team

Health Cabinet Secretary Cleopa Mailu will chair the funeral committee for the late Interior Major Gen (Rtd) Joseph Nkaissery after being appointed by the government.

On Sunday, Chief of Staff and Head of Civil Service Joseph Kinyua said CS Mailu will work closely with family members of the late Interior CS Nkaissery to ensure that he gets a sendoff befitting a respected national leader.

“The government has today formed a funeral committee to work closely with the family of the late Cabinet Secretary. The terms of reference of the committee will be to provide all possible assistance to the family of our departed colleague and to ensure that the late Cabinet Secretary receives an honourable and dignified sendoff befitting his status as a gallant and true patriot,” Mr Kinyua said.

The family has appointed Saitoti ole Maika as the spokesperson as the committee begins planning for the late Nkaissery’s funeral.

The late CS passed on Saturday night and an autopsy is expected to be conducted on Monday by government pathologists to determine his cause of death as Kenyans eagerly wait for the results following his sudden demise.

The opposition, National Super Alliance have urged the government to conduct a genuine investigation to calm peoples nerves as many questions remain unanswered of the late Nkaissery’s sudden death with the General Election less than a month away.
