Maina Kamanda blames Starehe primaries defeat on Peter Kenneth support
Starehe Member of Parliament, Maina Kamanda, has now blamed his defeat in the just concluded party primaries on his decision to support Peter Kenneth’s bid for Nairobi gubernatorial position.
Maina Kamanda was opposed to Jubilee Party gubernatorial nominee, Senator Mike Mbuvi Sonko, during primaries campaigns.
Mr Kamanda now says that supporting and campaigning for Peter Kenneth, a new entrant into the city politics, cost him in the primaries.
“The Peter Kenneth issue caused Jubilee leaders to be divided into two groups. I am saying right now that the issue has caused some leaders, who were seen to have endorsed Kenneth, big problems including losing in the nominations,” says Mr Kamanda.
“It is like Nairobians were not happy with us supporting Peter Kenneth.”
The veteran politician, who was speaking when conceding defeat at the Jubilee headquarters on Thursday, May 4, however, said that they will bury the hatchet and support Jubilee’s candidates in order to win all the elective seats in the city.
“I was forced by forces I will not disclose right now to support Peter Kenneth. But let us forget what has happened and focus on the future, I will not lament about this issue,” added Kamanda.
