Major blow to ODM as over 300 members defect to Jubilee

The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has suffered a major blow after over 300 of its members defected to join the ruling Jubilee Party.

Led by the Narok County youth leader, Stephen Meiteiya, the members said that they would support the re-election of President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy, William Ruto.

Meiteya, who led the defection, was received by Narok Governor Samuel ole Tunai in Narok town alongside the more than 300 members who quit the opposition for Jubilee.

Receiving the defectors, Tunai described the opposition National Supper Alliance (NASA) leaders as selfish who are out to exploit Kenyans by making empty promises without giving priority to the development agenda of the nation.

Mr Meiteiya called on the defectors to fully support Jubilee Government and Governor Tunai in the August 8 polls.

Narok East Member of Parliament, Ken Aramat, was upbeat that nominated Jubilee aspirants would do President Kenyatta proud when Kenyans go to the ballot in less than 100 days to install new leaders.

The ODM party enjoys huge following in parts of Narok East and the neighboring Kajiado West.
