Make ballot papers printing tender friendly Clergy to IEBC

Bishops of the Catholic faith have cautioned the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) against overruling interests of other parties in the printing of ballot papers barely 48 days to the much awaited August 8, 2017 General Election.

The Clergy, under the Kenya Conference of Catholic Bishops (KCCB), stressed on the importance of dialogue in tackling conflicting issues with all the stakeholders.

“Transparency of the IEBC is important. If the other side is not satisfied, the other should give a chance for dialogue. If dialogue reaches a dead end, the whole thing should be cancelled,” said Bishop Cornelius Korir.

This comes after the Opposition National Super Alliance (NASA) led by flag bearer, Raila Odinga, termed the tender unfair alleging it has direct links to the Jubilee’s top principals.

IEBC said it would proceed with the printing of ballot papers as awarded to a Dubai-based firm, Al-Ghurair.

The Clergy also asked Kenyans to choose their leaders wisely since they hold their future.
